Prof. Timothy O’Neill

Tim O’Neill is Ireland’s most distinguished scholar-calligrapher. His The Irish Hand was first published in 1984, and a new edition was published by Cork University Press in 2014, quickly becoming a best-seller. Tim’s calligraphic work has involved him in many commissions (most recently for the Royal Irish Academy) and collaborations. One of his most enduring collaborations was with his late friend, Seamus Heaney. In 2019 he was the inaugural Boole Artist in Residence in UCC. He is currently Adjunct Professor in the Department of Modern Irish, UCC.
